Human-Computer Interaction Research GROUP
About Our Research Group
Welcome to WPI.
Our main research area is in human-computer interaction. Our group's current focus is on accessibility, brain-computer interaction, emerging interaction modes and techniques, neuroergonomics, reality-based interaction, and machine learning approaches in adaptive interactive systems. Our work has applications in areas such as deaf education, driving, aviation, health, privacy, STEM education, gaming, complex decision making, as well as human interaction with autonomous systems and vehicles.
We have moved to WPI! Until August 2018, we were part of HCCLabs@Drexel within the College of Computing & Informatics at Drexel and also the Drexel School of Biomedical Engineering, Science & Health Systems.

Research Opportunities
PhD students
We are currently recruiting motivated students interested in doing research in human-computer interaction (HCI), specifically accessibility and emerging interaction modes and techniques such as brain-computer interfaces, physiological/wearable computing, affective computing, tangible interaction, and reality-based interaction. Many of our projects also involve applying machine learning techniques to human-computer interaction, and/or human interaction with complex and autonomous systems and vehicles. Before contacting us, please take a look at our research and publications.
WPI is an exciting place to study human-computer interaction. WPI offers Ph.D. and M.S. programs in Computer Science, Data Science, Interactive Media and Game Development, Neuroscience, Learning Sciences, and Robotics Engineering. If you are applying to one of the doctoral programs, and are interested in working in our group, make sure to indicate this as well as your research interests in your essay.
WPI Undergraduate or Masters students
If you are interested in getting involved, feel free to contact us and provide information about your background and interests, as well as your CV or resume. We currently have projects for students interested in human-computer interaction, accessibility, Deaf education, psychology, experiment design, brain-computer interfaces, machine learning, feature selection, and/or signal processing.
Students often join the lab as volunteer research assistants, work-study lab assistants, enroll in independent study credit and/or take paid research assistant positions. I also regularly supervise MQP and IQP projects related to research projects in my lab.
